BUILDING AND EQUITABLE AND INCLUSIVE PEEL

Part of our community engagement work includes responding to current diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) related events and issues that are impacting our local communities. Our Call to Actions highlight emerging issues and urge community members as well as organizations to take a stance in support of justice and fairness in order to create safe spaces for productive dialogue and ensuing actions.

CURRENT CALL TO ACTION

Freedom Of Religion Or Freedom From Religion? (2017)

The Regional Diversity Roundtable is alarmed by the emerging and increasing islamaphobic rhetoric, hate speech and culture of fear surrounding religious accommodations. We do not condone Islamaphobia, hate speech, and discrimination based on religion. It not only goes against our mandate and principles, it also is antithetical to inclusive community building.

PAST CALL TO ACTIONS

Anti-Immigration Flyers (2014)

RDR strongly denounces the position taken and conveyed by IWC in targeting the Sikh community in the City of Brampton. We ask all residents of Peel and the rest of Canada to challenge this issue of identity politics.
